Hanging out with Corwin

We had such a blast today. We all woke up early, and went for a nice long walk, came home to eat, and then created some really fun pictures. Kimberly and I were talking, and she mentioned, "It's bizarre to think that we are a family of 5 now."

I always knew this day would come, but I still feel too young to have a family of 5. In a way I'm very excited and thrilled, and in another sense I view myself as just a big kid (with a lot of responsibility). I'm still  waiting to feel like a grown-up, but maybe this is a good feeling? Hahahaha

Corwin was already back to his birth weight of 5lbs 15oz at his doctor appointment 3 days after he was born! Kimberly is doing very well, and the kids are adapting nicely. We attribute most of this to the fact we have been praying for Corwin as soon as we knew he was coming. Both of the kids love giving Corwin kisses, especially L. These pictures:



were completely unscripted.

Kimberly and I are both excited for the things to come, and always look forward to the adventure.

I almost didn't include a picture of L, because she was throwing such a tantrum. These are the best she had today. Even when she pouts she looks so adorable though!

     For those of you who may not know, we are pregnant. It has been my fault that there have been no pregnancy pictures for everyone to see, and for that I apologize. Someone once told me, with each kid you get a little more absent minded... I almost missed my window of opportunity to post pregnancy pictures. The reason for that was because early this morning I received a call at work, "Jonathan, I'm really have strong contractions about 8 min apart..." So we scrambled the parents, and they began the drive from College Station.

     Now this is a bit reminiscent of what happened two years ago with L. Kimberly's parents came, and then she stopped having contractions. She tried walking, exercising, riding a lawnmower... and then the baby came two weeks later.


     Kimberly felt confident that this was the real deal. So I'm expecting a call at work saying that they've arrived at the hospital and are being admitted, but nothing. So I come home, Mike and Janice are there, and Kimberly is just going through her normal routine. A bit confused I ask what the plan was. We are going to stay at home until the contractions get too painful, THEN we'll go in... So I went to sleep and told Kimberly she can't have the baby until I have at least 4 hours of sleep. Well it is now 2107, she's been having contractions all day, Aaron Ameny even came over and showed us some reflexology to help induce labor. So before it is too late, here are some pregnancy pictures.
We thought it would be fun to take some cute pictures with the kids as well And those are the pictures we want to show people, but this is really what happened... We do always have fun though, and we are so lucky to have some of the cutest kids in the world!

Birthday Bash

Eliana turned 2 this past May 7th, and we had such a great time with family! Some were more ready for the party to begin than others... but everyone had a great time, especially Eliana. It didn't really matter what we did, L was so excited about EVERYTHING. Presents, people, candles, cupcakes, it all worked for her. Ashton Kutcher took a break from his busy work schedule of shooting Nikon 1 ads, and stopped by as well! Thank you to everyone for the phone calls and birthday wishes.

My Cute Monster

We have had such wonderful weather as of late, that it would be a crime NOT to take pictures of my children. We did find out why Kenny looked so miserable when I took his picture in the bluebonnets, he had a fever of 101.4. He is much better now, back to his usual antics. I would be remiss though if I did not get a few pictures of "L." I don't know what it is, other than my bias, but I think she is such an adorable little girl!

 

 

 

 

A Bright Day in the Bluebonnets

I saw this field of bluebonnets on the way home from Kenny's preschool class, and I asked Kenny if he  wanted to take some pictures. Normally he's always game for a few pictures, but he shook his head and replied "no." So instead of abiding his wishes I asked if we could just take a couple of pictures only. He begrudgingly relented.

 

It was so bright outside, and think he may be coming down with a cold or something, but the champ stuck it out. Kimberly doesn't approve of the pictures because Kenny's hair is all sorts of wonky, and he's not dressed in "cute" clothes. Oh well, that's what happens when Dad's in charge, LOL.

 

A Day at the Temple

We had a fantastic opportunity to go to the temple this  past week. You really can leave your worries at the doors, and enjoy the peace that temple service offers. A great thank you to my mom for watching the kids while we were up in Dallas.

 

Children are wonderful, but it is essential to get away from them every now and again, and remember why you fell in love with your spouse to begin with.
 
 

Hanging out with Firemen

Kenny and his preschool class had a great opportunity go and visit the Woodway fire and police station.

 

 

I don't think there was one picture that Kenny was NOT playing with his belly button...

 

 

Officer Dudley did a great job talking to the kids and explaining to them about what the police and firemen did. Sure, some of the concepts were WAY over the kids heads, but it was fun none the less.
 
 
 


And yes, that is a box of Shipley's donuts in the police station...


 

The part that I enjoyed the most was Officer Dudley's talk about what to do if you're in a house that is on fire. He told a story about some firefighters going into a house that had two kids in it, and when the firemen approached, the kids were very frightened at their appearance and they ran further into the house. This caused the kids to sustain significantly more sever injuries. So what Officer Dudley wanted to do was put on his fire gear, and show the kids that there was no reason to be afraid of firemen.

 
 
 
 

Then he got on all fours and demonstrated what he would look  like if he were entering a burning building. So a child would see this:
 
and would hear a firemen screaming, in his muted voice, "Fire Department! Fire Department!" They also swing the butt of the axe from side to side to assist them as they feel their way though a smoke filled building.

The kids also were able to sit in the fire truck and play with all the sirens and horns. Every single one of them wore a huge grin as they sat behind the wheel of the fire engine.
