Okay, Kenny is ready to go to the zoo.

 Our first visit was to the monkeys. They were about the regular business of the day.

I had mixed feelings when I saw this eagle at first. This particular eagle has been crippled and can never return to the wild, so that's why they keep him here. He has a companion who has been likewise injured by poachers.

I called National Geographic and wanted to sell them this picture, but they laughed at me and hung up. I still think it's a great shot.

I'm not sure this picture needs much more of an introduction.

You can sorta see the electric fence keeping the bear contained on its small island.  There was a constant humming and crackling, that seemed to be irritating the bear, for he was  pacing back and forth constantly.

This was Kenny's FAVORITE part of the whole visit. He would run back and forth, in and out of the tee pees. His face was screaming delight.

This slide was a clear tube that went through the otter water. I think he went down this slide 6 or 7 times.

We moved on to the sleeping crew. Apparently from 10am until 2:30pm is siesta time.

We eventually found some more active participants, and by active I mean not sleeping. The giraffe's just stood there eating sticks.

No zoo trip is complete without a picnic to wrap things up.

I'd show you the pictures Kenny took, but they are the type of pictures that I think only a parent appreciates.

Easter with the Hecks

We did this 5 times that day.

Christmas! Christmas? Christmas

Some of y'all have been wondering how our Christmas went, and it's my fault you have not heard our story, my apologies for this. Out of 682 pictures, I'm going to try and sum it up with 28. It's not that it is easy to sum it up in so few pictures, it's just that I am that good.

We had to make a connecting flight in Vegas...and we think Kenny might have a gambling problem.

All that flying tends to make you so tired, that you'll sleep just about anywhere.

Shortly after arriving in Utah we hooked up with Santa!

Everyone had a chance to sit on Santa's lap, from the 6'7" giant to the tiniest of tots.

Some of us enjoyed Santa's company more than others.

We got together with the McConnell's for a rigged gift exchange.

We saw cute cousins

...who proceeded to eat my phone, wallet, and Garmin

Then we were off to go see GG!

 At which point David jumped out of a BIG box to surprise her.

To ring in the new year we always shoot someone...er something....um...we shoot off the shotgun.

I know what you're thinking, and no we did not beat up Grandma during game night.

As always we owe a big debt of thanks to the Parker family for always taking us under their wing. We are so grateful for what y'all do.

It always makes a father feel good whenever any of his children take an interest in his own hobbies...

Kenny and his Bear

Grandma bought Kenny this giant bear for Valentine's Day, which is larger than he is and really, really soft. Whenever we lay him down for a nap, or to bed at night, he'll almost always call out, "Beawr, beawr, beawr." You can often find the two of them hanging out.

Back in Business

It has been far too long since I last updated the blog. I graduated nursing school, took my state boards and passed! got a new job, have been adjusting to working 14 hour days, Kenny is sick, my wife is in school, my car started dying on my the other day, my choir was called upon to sing at a funeral... It's been a busy few months at the Heck house.

Valentine's Day was great though. I made Kimberly a shirt that had this logo (which I designed by the way) on it:
